About the Role

We are currently seeking a casual Master Control Operator (MCR) to join our dedicated team. This position involves working a 24/7, 365 days a year rotating shift pattern that includes weekend and night shifts. 

As an MCR Operator you’ll thrive on solving problems and working in a fast-paced environment. You’ll play an important role by providing technical service, solutions and support to video & IP networks, infrastructure, products, and services supplied as well as emerging technologies to ensure our operations are uninterrupted and run smoothly.

 

Key Responsibilities

In the MCR Operator position you will be responsible for the following:

  • Monitoring and adjustment of incoming video, audio and data streams according to organisational processes. 

  • Creative and innovative operational troubleshooting and solution finding skills. 

  • Coordination with field services personnel to support remote operations via satellite, fibre, FTP, IP and other media networks. 

  • Provide operational support to other technical areas within the wider business.

  • Customer and broadcast content asset management. 

  • Undertake routine monitoring of transmission systems and ancillary equipment. 

  • Incident, Problem and Change Management using ServiceNow and approved Telstra Service Management Tools. 

  • Conforming to day-to-day scheduling workflow using the appropriate tools e.g. ScheduALL, emails, Telstra systems. 

  • Appropriate escalation and reporting of incidents and issues to the relevant stakeholders, both internal and external. 

  • Maintaining a cohesive and harmonious work environment with internal and external stakeholders.  

  • Any other ad hoc duties as required.

 

About You

The ideal applicant will possess:

  • 3-5 years of relevant technical experience

  • The ability to set up and operate all types of television and communications equipment. 

  • Knowledge and experience co-ordinating and troubleshooting for live events. 

  • In-depth knowledge of television equipment, satellite, optical fibre communication terminology and broadcast standards. 

  • In-depth operational understanding of IP networks (TCP/IP, FTP, Store and Forward). 

  • The ability to work independently and work flexible schedules including 12-hour shifts across nights, holidays and weekends. 

  • Knowledge and experience using bookings systems (ScheduAll), highly desirable. 

  • Operation of satellite dish and receiver equipment, highly desirable. 

  • The ability to multi-task and work under deadlines. 

  • Excellent customer focus to be able to interface with customers. 

  • The ability to deal with competing demands and remain calm under pressure. 

  • Commitment to solve problems quickly, efficiently and effectively. 

  • Recognize early signs of service difficulty, and not hesitate in communicating them to Operational, Editorial and Management teams.
